A dietary supplement produced in Friuli for the soldiers in Afghanistan
The new probiotic (KLUYVER B0399), a supplement useful for intestinal equilibrium, will be utilized by the Italian Red Cross and by the military, especially by the soldiers serving on missions abroad.

A probiotic from Friuli for the Italian military. Recently, in Senigalia, the tenth national convention of the medical officers of the Army Corps and the eighth symposium of the medical personnel of the Italian Red Cross were held. In the sector on intestinal prevention, Dr. Teresa De Monte spoke on the introduction of the innovative probiotic of Turval Laboratories of Udine in the diet of soldiers on missions abroad. The probiotic has also been approved by the Ministry of Defense.
This probiotic, a supplement which is beneficial to intestinal equilibrium, will, in fact, be utilized by the Italian Red Cross and by the Army, above all by soldiers engaged in missions abroad, where, besides the stress of such difficult and dangerous work, they are also exposed to weather and sanitary conditions which are quite different to those they are used to at home.
“Five years ago,” explains engineer Alessandro Turello, president of Turval Laboratories, “the ministry of defense analyzed the results of the research conducted and the functional characteristics of our probiotic with a basis of a particular lactic yeast, and retained it to be more effective than the more common lactic ferments when added to the diet of the troops, especially in reducing the incidence of diarrhea, which is extremely widespread.”
Intestinal problems can actually incapacitate a good portion of the military on missions abroad. In regards, the characteristics of the probiotic from Friuli were officially presented June 26, in a convention held in Venzone, Italy, for the troops soon to be deployed in Afghanistan.
