Trial of utilization of probiotics with a basis of typified lactic yeasts (Turval B0399) in the diet of sleddogs (huskies).

Objective.

The objective of the trial was to observe the effects of the utilization of the new probiotics with a basis of typified lactic yeasts Kluyveromyces B0399 (Turval B0399) in the diet of sleddogs.

In particular, the digestive functions and general health of the dogs were observed.

Summary of results.

Individual charts were kept showing results relative to 7 dogs (3 male and 4 female) of ages between 13 months and 10 years.

Except for the dog Mille (charts 7 and 8), whose results were not evident due to a severe case of verminosis, the other 6 dogs had positive results with the addition of the probiotic Turval B0399; especially Alfa (charts 1 and 2), Yerghu (charts 9 and 10) and Yeregh (charts 11 and 12).

The product demonstrated to be most certainly valid and very interesting.

Materials

a- Base diet: Mixed: Croquettes + warm water (300 g + 2 liters of

water in 2 meals a day.)

b- Probiotic integration: TURVAL 25 DOG

Age: YEARLING - 13 MONTHS OLD

State of health at beginning of trial:

(Critical) Convalescence due to both a heavy hormonal treatment (which provoked a

vaginal infection) and antibiotic treatment. The dog was extremely weak and was

being administered phleboclyses of hysiological solution.

Duration of treatment: 4 weeks

Dosage used: 12 g in the morning meal

Final comment :

At the beginning of the trial with TURVAL B0399 the dog was very weak and underwent fleboclyses of physiological solution. TURVAL B0399 definitely contributed in awakening its appetite and rebuilding the bacteric flora

Final comment:

TURVAL B0399 improved the consistency of the feces though it did not resolve the problem of verminosis. After the fifth week the dog was dewormed and the feces returned to normal.

Final comment:

TURVAL B0399 was administered to stimulate the poor appetite caused by the dog’s being in heat. The dog found it extremely palatable and even loved eating it in the bowl with no other additions.

The probiotic did not give results in this subject . The successive deworming after treatment with TURVAL solved the problem completely.

TURVALB0399 definitely changed the consistency and odor of the feces, contributing in improving the general state of health of the dog. The supplement proved to be quite palatable, even on its own.
