Trial#23: The effect of the probiotic TURVAL B0399 on the digestive utilization capacity of young ostrich (preliminary trial)
Turval BO399 improves the digestive utilization capacity of the animals and reduces the "lethal prolapse" phenomenon.
SUMMARY
The preliminary trial show that the probiotic TURVAL B0399 with lactic yeast Kluyveromyces B0399, improved the digestive utilization capacity of the animals.
In particular, the average values of CAD (coefficients of apparent digestibility) of organic substance (63.6%), raw proteins (74.9%), cellulose (36%) and energy (63.7%) confirm that the ostriches were already able to utilize well the cellular contents and the carbohydrates in the food when only 6 weeks old.
The results also showed that the subjects treated with TURVAL B0399 manifested general improvement of health and the disappearance of the “lethal prolapse” phenomenon.
Purpose of Trial
Evaluation of the effect of the probiotic TURVAL B0399 in the diet of young subjects , considering the digestive utilization as coefficient of apparent digestibility (CAD) of organic substance, of raw proteins of cellulose and of energy, plus an evaluation of the general state of health.

4. Considerations on Results
TURVAL B0399 improved the digestive utilization capacity of the animals.
In particular, the average values of CAD (coefficients of apparent digestibility expressed as a percentage relationship between the absorbed nutritional substances and the raw nutritional substances contained in foods) of organic substance (63.6%), raw proteins (74.9%), cellulose (36%) and energy (63.7%) confirm that the ostriches were already able to utilize well the cellular contents and the carbohydrates in the food when only 6 weeks old.
The results also showed that the subjects treated with TURVAL B0399 manifested visual changes:
The plumage was thicker and shinier, which indicated a general improvement of health of the subjects.
The disappearance of the “lethal prolapse” phenomenon.
